The 1.00 payment-and-refund test is for a test or sandbox connection. Live merchant readiness is checked separately.
When a sandbox test is offered
- Open Getting paid and confirm the connection is in the provider test environment.
- Connect the provider and follow the test action shown on its card.
- Complete the sandbox payment using the provider’s test buyer or test payment details.
- Complete the sandbox refund step.
- Confirm that payment and refund evidence both appear for the current connection.
Live and test connections
Check whether Getting paid shows a live connection or a test connection. Test payments and refunds use the provider’s sandbox. They do not activate live checkout. An authorized live connection is enabled from the provider’s actual merchant readiness; you are not required to make an artificial live 1.00 charge and refund.
If the provider says Action required or Restricted, follow its secure setup steps. A Square account must finish the provider’s identity checks and have an active card-processing location before it can accept card payments. An account existing is not the same as an account being ready to receive payments.
