A successful test belongs to a particular provider account and environment. It does not prove that another account or a new live connection is ready.
After a connection changes
- Open Getting paid and check the account, environment and provider status.
- Use the displayed Connect, Reconnect or Continue action if required.
- For a test connection, repeat the sandbox payment-and-refund test only when requested.
- For a live connection, complete the provider’s outstanding requirements and wait for confirmed readiness.
Live and test connections
Check whether Getting paid shows a live connection or a test connection. Test payments and refunds use the provider’s sandbox. They do not activate live checkout. An authorized live connection is enabled from the provider’s actual merchant readiness; you are not required to make an artificial live 1.00 charge and refund.
If the provider says Action required or Restricted, follow its secure setup steps. A Square account must finish the provider’s identity checks and have an active card-processing location before it can accept card payments. An account existing is not the same as an account being ready to receive payments.
