Sales tax is calculated automatically for each checkout using your configured tax registrations and the buyer’s delivery address. You no longer enter one statewide percentage in Studio Operations.
Studio ($29/month) or Studio Plus ($49/month) is required for payment workflows and private prices collectors can accept. On Free, Showcase and the trial, the relevant controls remain visible but locked. Click a locked control to see what Studio adds and Upgrade, or choose See plans to review your options. Saved settings and records are preserved.

How checkout calculates tax
Stripe checkout uses Stripe Tax. The current Farbase integration also uses the connected Stripe Tax service to calculate tax for PayPal and Square checkout. Connecting PayPal or Square alone does not complete that tax setup.
The tax service determines the amount from the registrations configured for your business, the buyer’s location, and the artwork and shipping details. It maintains the rates; you do not maintain a state-by-state rate table in Farbase. An out-of-state or international address is not a universal tax exemption.
Your address and registrations have different jobs
Your business address identifies where your business is based. Entering an address or a tax number in Farbase does not automatically register your business to collect tax elsewhere. Review your collection registrations in Stripe Tax when your obligations change.
If checkout cannot obtain a valid tax calculation, it pauses rather than substituting a guessed amount. Automatic calculation does not by itself file or remit your taxes.
