Open Website in the Studio sidebar to edit Home, About, Exhibitions, Press and Contact. Your Work page comes from your artwork records in Your works. View gallery controls the separate standalone catalogue.
Use the website controls in the header
The Studio header shows the studio name and the whole website’s status on every page. Website offline is red. Visitors see the coming-soon page instead of artwork, pages, navigation or contact details. Website online is green. Visitors see the last published version.
Use the switch beside the status to take the whole website online or offline. Taking it offline keeps its pages, drafts, published version and address. If the website has never been published, switching it online publishes the saved draft once. After that, switching it online again restores the last published version and never silently publishes newer draft changes.
If Farbase applies an emergency safety hold, your website stays on the coming-soon page and the switch cannot put it online. Your saved pages, drafts, published version and address are kept. Contact Farbase Support; only Farbase can remove that hold. A separate account-access hold does not by itself change whether the public website is online.
Preview website sits immediately before Search. It opens the private draft and does not publish or change the red or green status. In a Website page editor, Preview website includes current unsaved edits. On Site design, use Preview in a starting-design card to see that design without saving or selecting it. The header Preview website opens the saved design draft.
Private website preview links remain usable for seven days. Saving another draft revision replaces the preview, so open Preview website again after making changes. Previewing never publishes the website or enables messages and checkout.
Choose a starting design
Open Website → Site design. Choose Original gallery, Light editorial, Black gallery or Warm paper. Original gallery is the default for a new website; an existing website keeps its saved design.
Each card has a Preview button. Preview opens that complete design in a private dialog without saving, publishing or selecting it. Switch between Desktop and Phone, then choose Close or press Escape to return. Current design adjustments and a new logo upload are included when previewing the selected design. These session previews expire after one hour and need the signed-in browser session.
Choose Use this design when you want its colors, fonts and starting page layouts. The card says Selected — save to use until you save. Choosing a different complete design adjusts the starting layouts while preserving your writing, image references, links and sections. Warm paper shows one image on Home; its other sections remain available in the page editor.
Adjust the shared website style
The settings are grouped into independently opening sections. Your header opens by default. Opening another section leaves the others open until you close them.
- Choose your name or upload a PNG, JPEG or WebP logo. Logos fit without stretching or cropping.
- Choose menu position, header size, heading and body fonts, a menu font, text sizes and buttons. A centered menu places the name or logo above it.
- Choose background, accent and link colors, page width and optional footer social links.
- Choose Save as draft to keep these changes private. Changes saved privately means the draft is saved but is not the published version. Save as draft becomes available when you make a change.
- Choose Publish changes when ready to update the published version, including saved page drafts. The separate online/offline switch controls whether visitors see it.
Home, Work, About, Exhibitions, Press, Contact and individual artwork pages share the same Site design. Later page-template changes keep these colors, fonts and navigation choices.
Choose a page layout
Open a page editor and select Templates beside Sections. Each page has its own arrangements: opening images and artwork stories on Home; paired stories, alternating spreads, portrait with notes and a reading column on About; exhibition journals, wide openings and a portrait ledger for Exhibitions; publication columns and a contrasting quote panel for Press; and form or email-led Contact layouts. The quote panel contrasts your website colors while retaining its fonts. Choosing a layout never changes the whole website theme.
Template cards are neutral white diagrams. Template previews use gray image placeholders with your current writing; your saved photos and artwork links are preserved. Newly added photo sections begin with an empty image slot so you can choose the right image yourself.
- Select a layout to open its full-page preview. Switch between Desktop and Phone.
- Choose Cancel to keep the page unchanged, or Use this layout to apply the arrangement to the draft.
- Return to Sections to edit. Reading columns can be centered on the page while the text and bullet lists remain left-aligned.
- Undo returns to the previous arrangement. Choose Save draft to keep the change private or Publish changes when ready.
The compact Preview original layout action restores the pre-template arrangement while keeping current content, including new sections and later writing or image edits. Deleted sections stay deleted. If the earlier arrangement cannot be recovered from saved history, the action says Preview default layout.
In narrower desktop windows, choose Sections & templates. On phones, choose Edit page and use the drawer. Work keeps its menu-name-only editor and its artwork source in Your works.
Name your Work page
Open Website and choose Edit page beside Work. This page has one setting: Name in your website menu. Enter a name such as Work, Gallery or Paintings. Choose Save draft to keep the name private, or Publish changes to publish it together with your other saved page drafts. All artwork content and its order come from Your works; the Work naming screen has no content, layout or visibility settings.
Edit a page
Open Website and choose Edit page. Click the words on the page to type directly, or select a section from the visual rail on the left. Click a photo or quote to open its controls. Text, Photo, Quote and This section show the choices for that section, one group at a time. Click an open group heading again to close it; all groups can stay closed. You can also use Enter or Space when the heading is focused. This works in the phone drawer too. The group headings stay together and remain within reach as you scroll. Choose a group to bring its controls into view below the headings. Long text grows with the page. The selected section has an orange outline and label on the editing canvas.
Use the thin Add a section here line between sections or at the end. Choose Heading and introduction, Story with photo, Full-width photo, Text section, Quote, Selected works, or Exhibition or announcement. Replace the starter text and images with your own. Drag a section card to reorder it, or use its Move up and Move down buttons. Changes remain private until you publish.
On a phone or tablet, Edit page opens a drawer with Sections and Settings. Select a section, edit it, and choose Close to return to the page. You can also type directly on the page. Undo, Redo, Preview, Save draft and Publish changes remain in the toolbar. Saving is always manual; Unsaved changes and the change count show what still needs saving.
See edits before publishing
Use Preview website in the header. In a page editor it shows current edits, including unsaved changes. Switch between Desktop and Phone, open the phone menu and visit other pages, then return to editing. Elsewhere it opens the saved draft. Saving or previewing a draft does not change what visitors see.
Publish changes and choose visibility
Choose Save draft on any other page you edited, then choose Publish changes. Publication updates the published version with the saved page drafts. Site design’s Publish changes also saves and publishes the design currently on screen. Publishing changes does not silently put an offline website online. Use the separate red or green header switch for whole-site visibility, then check the visitor address.
Contact and footer
The Contact form is on by default. Open Edit page for Contact, choose Contact form: On and clear Show contact form to turn it off. Preview your choice, then Save draft or Publish changes. Messages from the published online form appear under People → Messages. Private previews do not send messages. To rename the heading above the form, click the heading on the Contact editing canvas and type, or open Contact form settings and edit Form heading. Preview, then Save draft or Publish changes. Social links in Site design belong to the website and are not automatically copied from your Studio profile.
Web address and search details
Web address manages only the Studio Operations-hosted artist address. Taking the website offline keeps that address and serves the coming-soon page there. Custom domains are not offered in Web address. They are planned for Studio and Studio Plus subscribers under Settings, but are not available in the current build. Search & sharing saves the title, description and sharing image as a draft; publish the saved draft to update the published version.
Use your existing website instead
Open Settings → Outside website, choose your builder and copy the code that appears immediately. This embeds the standalone Work gallery without the artist-website menu or footer. Its separate gallery pause control does not change the red or green whole-website status.
Get help in place
The gray question marks explain the nearby choice. The yellow Page help button explains the current page or open Settings section. Lookbooks help stays about Lookbooks; website online/offline instructions belong to Website help. If something does not save, keep the page open, note the exact message and last action, and contact Support without sending a password.
Artwork order and phone layout
Use Your works → Arrange works to set the order on Work. Save new order, then reopen the gallery or website to check it. Sold works keep the position you choose when they are shown; filters keep that same order. The Work page shows up to 24 works at a time. When there are more, use Previous and Next beneath the artwork grid. Category filters have their own page count and return to their first page when selected. On artwork pages, Also available shows up to three randomly selected other available works on desktop and up to two on a phone.
The private Contact preview shows the normal button style and rollover effect, but does not send messages. The Studio Operations logo at the top of the CMS sidebar returns you to Today. On a phone, open the navigation menu to use it.
Choose page headlines
In Website → Site design → Layout & navigation, use Show page headlines to show or hide the visible title above Work, About, Exhibitions, Contact and individual artwork pages. Home does not repeat the artist name as a page headline. The editing canvas and preview follow this choice. Save as draft to keep it private, or Publish changes when ready.
Shape a text section
Select a Text section and choose Reading width, Wide or Two columns. Two columns become one on phones. Choose Normal for body text or Quote for a larger italic treatment using the heading font.
Add, edit and place a quote
Use the insertion line and choose Quote for a separate quotation, or select a Story with photo and open Quote to add a quotation beside its image. Click an existing quote on the page to edit it. The Quote group also offers an optional heading, Normal or Quote styling and independent alignment.
Choose Above main text, Below main text, Center in remaining space or Bottom beside image. Existing quotes keep their position until you change it. Save draft keeps changes private; Publish changes updates the live website. These section and quote controls are also available in the phone drawer.
The Work page uses two columns on phones. Artwork images remain complete and uncropped. Selected work sections on other pages keep their own layout.
Stay in touch about a sold work
Sold artwork pages keep Share and offer Ask about similar work. The second link opens the artwork contact form with a message about similar artwork. The Sold label remains visible; the work is not offered for checkout. A short note beneath Sold invites visitors to ask or share. On Farbase’s three Alex Rowan demo sites, published sample artwork keeps the same similar-work message form and Share control; the example artwork itself cannot be purchased.
A private website preview shows a small Preview mode chip beside the navigation. You can explore the contact form, but preview messages and checkout stay disabled. The chip does not appear on the published website.
Delete a section completely
Select the section from the rail or the phone drawer. Open This section and choose Delete section at the bottom. The confirmation names the section and explains recovery. Cancel keeps it unchanged. Confirm removes it from the rail and page, even if it was empty or hidden.
Use Undo before leaving the editor to restore it. Save draft keeps the deletion private; Publish changes removes the section from the published page. After saving and leaving, the deletion cannot be undone. Clearing the text or turning off Show this section only changes or hides the section; it does not delete it.
Check each removal before confirming
Delete section names the section and its position before removing it. Cancel keeps the section unchanged. You can use Undo while you remain in the editor; after saving and leaving, the deletion cannot be undone. Removing an image or a selected work from a section also asks first. The original image or artwork is kept and can be selected again. Removing the website logo asks before saving the design.
Automatic copyright year
The footer shows © followed by the current year and your artist name on every website page. The year updates automatically when a page is loaded in the new year; you do not need to edit or republish your website. The footer preview in Website design shows the same copyright line.
Add breathing room to your text
Deliberate extra blank lines now remain visible in the editing canvas, preview and published website, including blank lines after the final paragraph. Press Enter after the last line to add space; remove those line breaks to reduce it. Saving and reopening keeps the spacing. Normal paragraph separation and bullet lists keep their existing appearance.
When a quote uses Center in remaining space, the photograph still determines the available height. Blank lines after the main text increase the visible gap before the quote, while its automatic centering continues to respond to the remaining space. Check both Desktop and Phone previews because their layouts differ.
Text fields grow as you write. A quote beside a photo stays part of that section. Reorder whole sections from the rail or from This section.
Link to a lookbook or another website
In a Text or Quote text box, select the words visitors should click, then choose Insert link beneath that box. In the small popup, check Text to show, paste the URL into Web address, and choose Insert link. You can also place the cursor where you want a new link and enter its wording in the popup. The writing box keeps ordinary text; no HTML or formatting codes are needed.
Copy the public sharing URL from Lookbooks to link to that lookbook. A viewing link opens the lookbook; it is not automatically a direct PDF download. You can also paste a normal https:// or http:// website address. Links work in main text and the extra or quote text beside an image, including when editing on a phone.
Click an underlined link on the editing canvas to open Edit link, change its wording or address, then choose Save link. On a phone, close the Settings drawer to find the link on the page. You can also place the cursor inside linked words in the text box and choose Insert link to edit that link. Remove link asks for confirmation and keeps the words. Undo can restore the link before you leave; you can also add it again.
Links open in a new tab so visitors can keep your website open. Use Preview website to test a link. Choose Save draft to keep the change private, or Publish changes to make it available to visitors. Link changes remain unpublished until you publish.
Share reviews and press materials
Press sits between Exhibitions and Contact in the default menu. Add a featured quotation, coverage item, publication mentions or a press kit. Enter publications one per line. Source links and the optional press-kit button require a full public https:// address. With no valid link, there is no public action. Links open in a new tab. File detail is descriptive wording; a link to a webpage does not become a file download.
New sample studios include fictional press examples personalized with the artist name entered during signup. Replace them with your own verified coverage. Existing websites receive Press hidden, so no unfinished page becomes public just by opening Website. Edit it, choose whether it appears in your menu, preview it and publish when ready.
Uploaded WebP website photos stay in WebP format after processing, keeping the published image compact. The complete image and any transparency are preserved. Existing website photos remain available.
Replace examples before publishing
Your signed-in preview can show supplied artwork, website photographs and fictional biography, exhibition or press examples. Visitors to an ordinary subscriber website cannot see those supplied examples. Add your own artwork and photographs and replace fictional claims with verified details before publishing. The designated Farbase Alex Rowan demos are public examples.
