Use this checklist when you want a collector to be able to pay for one artwork directly from your website. Direct checkout depends on several parts of Studio Operations working together, so check them in order.
Make the artwork publish-ready
- Open Your works and open the artwork.
- Complete the artwork’s required public information and images.
- Set an availability that accurately describes the work. For direct checkout, the artwork needs to be available for sale.
- Publish the artwork and make sure it is allowed to appear on your website.

Choose how the artwork can be bought
On the artwork’s Price tab, set How it can be bought to the direct website-purchase option. See Change how an artwork can be bought.
Choose and connect the payment provider
- Open Getting paid and choose Stripe, PayPal or Square.
- Select Save and continue. Selected means the choice is saved.
- Use Connect and sign in to your own account on the payment company’s secure site. Approve its permission request and return to Studio.
- Check the account name and reference. Complete any provider setup and use Check connection again when needed.
- When all requirements are ready, confirm the displayed account, enable Collectors can buy directly from my website, and save.
Check the page says Checkout is switched on. A connected account, a Selected card, or test-mode evidence alone does not mean live payments are enabled. PayPal connection availability depends on Farbase’s platform approval. No checkout at all deliberately uses inquiries.
Check sales-tax readiness
Website checkout can remain unavailable when the business and sales-tax setup required by the current checkout flow is incomplete. Use What happens when sales-tax setup is incomplete.
Give checkout a known shipping amount
Direct checkout needs a buyer-facing shipping amount that can be known before payment. Use either shipping included in the artwork price or an exact separate charge. If the work needs a quote, the sale should remain an inquiry or arrangement instead of a direct checkout. See When shipping prevents website checkout.
Check the public result
Open the artwork through your public gallery and confirm the expected buying path appears. If it does not, use Why website checkout is not available for an artwork and work through the missing requirement instead of changing several settings at once.
