If Studio Operations will not publish an artwork, one or more of the eight public requirements are still missing. The Readiness warning at the top of the artwork record uses the same checks as the Publish action itself.
Check these eight requirements
- Make sure the work has a main image. To add one, follow Add images to an existing artwork. For upload limits, see Artwork image limits and supported file types.
- Make sure the artwork has a title. Use Change an artwork’s title, year, category or subject.
- Make sure materials are entered. Use Change an artwork’s dimensions or materials.
- Make sure the artwork has both a height and width. These together are the dimensions requirement. Use Change an artwork’s dimensions or materials.
- Make sure the year it was made is entered. Use Change an artwork’s title, year, category or subject.
- Make sure the work has a public description. Use Change an artwork’s public description.
- Make sure a price is entered. Use Change an artwork’s price or shipping cost.
- Make sure an availability is selected. Use Change an artwork’s availability.
What is not a publishing blocker
Shipping is not required before publishing. A catalogue caption is also not required. They do not stop the work from being published.
Try Publish again
When all eight requirements are complete, the Readiness warning disappears. Click the orange Publish it button beside the artwork summary. If Studio Operations still finds something missing, it blocks publication and reports Before publishing, complete: followed by the missing requirement or requirements.
If the image itself will not upload
Use Fix an artwork image that will not upload instead of repeatedly trying Publish.
Published but still missing from the website?

Still blocked?
If every required item is complete and Studio Operations still refuses to publish after a fresh reload, continue through Guided Help and escalate if the problem remains.
