In Studio Operations, a sale is the permanent transaction record for money connected to an artwork. An inquiry, private offer, or accepted private price is not automatically a sale.
These are not sales yet
- An artwork inquiry records interest.
- A private price records an offer.
- An accepted private price records agreement to the offer, not payment.
- Being held records a temporary held selling state.
When it becomes a sale
Once the transaction should be part of your permanent sales history, Studio Operations keeps the artwork, collector, amounts, payment state, shipping and sale paperwork connected in a Sale record.
How does a sale get there?
Website checkout sales can arrive automatically when checkout is connected. For a studio visit, fair, cheque, cash, or another direct transaction, follow Record a sale you made outside your website.
After a sale is recorded, continue to shipping and tracking or sale paperwork.
Find and open a sale
Open Sales in the sidebar. Each compact sale card shows a small artwork thumbnail, a black title, its payment state and the available action buttons side by side. Open Sale details or Where the money went to see the extra information for that sale.
Use Find a sale to search by work, reference, buyer or email. Sales shows 20 records per page; use the page numbers or Next and Previous to move through the list. Check Active or Archived if the sale is not in the current view.
The header contains Record a sale you made in person for an existing work sold outside checkout, and Add a commission for agreed custom work paid by deposit and balance. Both open a window.
