Every new artwork begins as a Draft. This is deliberate. It lets you save an incomplete record without accidentally putting unfinished information online.
If you chose No, save as draft:
Your works → open the unfinished artwork
That is where you continue and finish the entry. Studio Operations saved the work; it did not disappear.
What a draft can be missing
You can keep working while details are still incomplete. Publishing is the point where Studio Operations checks the public essentials.
Before a work can be published, Studio Operations requires eight things:
- a main image, subject to the image rules
- a title
- materials
- both height and width
- the year it was made
- a public description
- a price
- an availability
Shipping and a catalogue caption are not required to publish. Studio Operations may still advise you about them, but they are not blockers.
Until the eight required items are ready, leaving the artwork as a Draft is normal.
Draft does not mean lost
The artwork remains in your Studio Operations records and you can continue editing it. To return to it, use Your works → open the unfinished artwork. It simply stays off the public gallery until you deliberately publish it.
When you are ready, use What Readiness means and the publishing checklist. If the work later says Published but still does not appear online, switch to the public-gallery troubleshooting path.
